How verification works

Every line on a Verified CV has a level. The level says what backs the line, in plain words.

L0 · Self-declared
The candidate states it, for example in their own CV. Nothing else backs it yet.
L1 · Document-matched
The line matches a document from someone else that the candidate uploaded: a work reference, a diploma or a certificate. For a job, the employer, job title and start date must all be found in that document (for a scan, the candidate confirms that our reading matches it), and the document must be in the candidate's name, or confirmed by them as theirs, for example under a former name. Dossier does not contact the issuer.
L2 · Issuer-confirmed (not available yet)
The issuer confirms the line directly, for example a university's diploma registry.
L3 · Registry-checked (not available yet)
Checked against an official register.

What recruiters see

A private link, one per application, that expires (after 30 days by default) and that the candidate can switch off at any time. The page lists each line with its level, the type of document behind it and the date it was checked. It never shows the documents themselves, quotes, or contact details, and search engines are told not to index it.

What happens to the documents

They are read in the EU and deleted right after. Dossier keeps a fingerprint (a hash) of each file and the facts the candidate confirmed, encrypted with a key for that account alone. Deleting the account deletes the key and makes every verify link stop working.
